Benefits of Keeping Your Parking Lot in Tip-Top Shape

Benefits of Keeping Your Parking Lot in Tip-Top Shape

Making a great first impression

I work with many clients that also own small businesses, and I even have a few small businesses as clients.  We all know that when you are in business the best thing you can do is make a great first impression.   This past weekend I was talking online with my virtual buddy James from Parking Lot Striping San Antonio.   He was making some great points about how small business owners can make such an impact on their customers simply by have a fresh looking parking lot.   I had not given it much thought until James made that statement, however since that time I find myself taking note of every parking lot I pull into.

James was right.   When you drive into a parking lot that is clean, and especially one that has had a fresh coat of paint recently, you just feel a little safer and appreciated.  As a business owner, you give your patrons a sense of security and safety by having a fresh clean parking lot.  This is a perfect way to make a great first impression.

How To Clean Your Windows

How To Clean Your Windows

DIY Window Cleaning

Have you ever been to a beautiful home with a gorgeous view and the windows were dirty? It can detract from the whole experience. Having clean windows, on the other hand, will enhance the feel of any room. Clean windows let in more light, improve your view and makes the room feel fresher. The question arises, though; if you don’t want to hire a cleaning professional, how can you clean your own windows? Let’s find out.

The first thing you want to find out is how you will access your windows. This may sound simple, and depending on your home it could be. However, for some of you out there, this may appear to be a daunting task. So do you have a single story home with easy to access windows? If yes, proceed to the next section. If not, then first find out if you can clean both sides of the window from the inside. This will be the safest and easiest option. Depending on the type of window you have, you may be able to actually fold in the window so you can clean the outside from the inside. Check your window for some sort of latch towards the top and see if you can get it to pivot down. If you are able to use this method you will want some sort of drop cloth to protect your furniture and finishes during the cleaning process. If you need to clean your windows from the outside, are you going to use a ladder or a pole? If you use a ladder always be sure to maintain 3 points of contact while on the ladder and never overreach. Using an extension pole will be safer but may take a few tries to get comfortable with the technique.

Secure Your Home

The first question you ask yourself once you’ve moved into your new home shouldn’t be where’s the kettle? But how many other people have keys to your new home?

This is a question many of us may take for granted and the truth is that unless you have the locks on your new home changed as soon as you move in, you may never know exactly how many others have copies of the keys.

door-handleThere are a wide variety of doors made of many different materials used within the home. Doors also vary with the kind of locks installed on them. But the truth is that if the locks on your property have not been changed in years there is the potential for there to be more copies of keys than just the ones in your possession. It may be that the former tenants had given a set to a family friend or even the next door neighbor, perhaps the estate agent has a set or even a variety of workmen and cleaners too. The list may be endless and while a few sets of keys may be lost, never to be found again, it doesn’t mean that changing locks shouldn’t be your first priority.
